Beware collectors. When it comes to buying polymer error notes, be extremely careful. Beware of fake or purposely made error polymer notes.
THESE ARE HOME MADE ERROR NOTES!!
THESE ARE HOME MADE ERROR NOTES!!
The above is a genuine Thailand 50 bahts polymer note. The print on the reverse side of the note has been completely removed by using cheap and domestic chemicals. This note was offered on sale on eBay and was sold as genuine error, which is not.
Despite such fake error notes surfaced since the early 2000, until today I can still find similar notes being offered by reputable sellers. If you have bought one recently, I would suggest that you return the note and demand for a full refund immediately. We must not allow any unscrupulous sellers to profit from such a scam.
Whilst the above fake error note is the most common type, there are also other fake polymer notes with partial print being removed. Sadly to say, most of these fake notes tend to come from one particular region.
More fake error notes. These are the Nepal 10 Rupee polymer notes. All notes are genuine but the so called print errors are not! These notes were offered for sale on eBay some years ago between $200 to $700.
